My son Derek and I couldn't swing the Thanksging morning hunt, I had kitchen duty since the big feast was at my house, and Derek got off of work at 7am. So we headed out to a new spot Friday morning, last day of our MD Nov split with my buddy mark and his 9 year old Easton. This was Easton's first duck hunt and he was seriously jacked up about it. Bluebird day, no wind, calling for 65 degrees, not a stellar forecast by any means. Day started off at 37 degrees, slick calm and few birds flying. There was very little shooting in the area. Singles pairs and small groups would come by every 15-30 min and we enticed a few into the hole! About noon things just died, we rode it out another hour with no luck, but ended the morning with a couple geese and a good pile of ducks! I told Easton, this was a great day by our standards, and don't count on too many days like this one!The old brown dog is in her 10th duck season and she is still a little stiff from all those retrieves!
