The local news was doing a story on deer recovery history in the state of Louisiana. I was the one to be ..... open enough to doing the interview. I did my research and last week they did the interview. What yall think?

And yes, to some extent I am tooting my horn, but I am proud of the job and the results. It was fun to do.

May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

Nice and to the point glad you posted this as it shows there is a need for "proper management" of wildlife.

Cool deal.

I've been in front of the camera before and it is alittle nerve racking at first.  You did well.

GobbleNut

Very well done, Jeff.   That's tougher than it looks like to do when the camera comes on.   You handled it very nicely.

Nice interview, and interesting as well.

Did I hear it right that the bag limit is 1 antlered and 1 anterless per day?  For people who hunt in these type of states, how many deer do you see while hunting on a regular basis?  Up here in NY,  we can basically shoot 4 or 5 per year, not including the early season on last years tag and depending on if we get drawn for doe permits, so it could be as low as 3 on this year tags.  It just boggles my mind to hear 2 deer per day or maybe even more in some states.  Not that I'd want to shoot 50 deer in a season, but it seems like the number of deer must be extremely high for a bag limit like that.

Since September 27th, my dad and I have seen 21 deer total, and I'm pretty sure some of those are the same ones.

The season Limit is 6 deer, 3 of which can be antlered and 3 can be antlerless.  You are allowed to take one of each per day on private lands up to the season limit.  When you get your tags you get the 6 tags (3 A, 3 AL).  We have 8 different zones.  I work and live in Zone 2 which has just about the longest and most liberal harvest structure.  There is a single parish that is its own zone (Area 5)  they have about a 2 week gun season.  I believe there is only 3 day during that 2 weeks you can harvest antlerless deer.  Some zones have Bucks only periods.  It varies based on the rut timing which goes from Late october in the west all the way into january in the far east parts of the state.

Thanks for clearing that up.  So it's not that much different than up here except we can only shoot 1 per day.
