Spare Tire Check
October 19, 2011, 08:18:36 PM
Please check your spare tire for air, and make sure it comes down from the holder.
Had a flat yesterday morning on my way to work. Good thing I barley got down the road from my house. So I limped it back to the yard to change and guess what the spare tire would not relase from the holder bracket under the truck. After some few choice words and a big hammer and 3 hours later I finally got it down and onto the truck.
Great, set the jack down and guess what the spare is flat too. Not the way to start a day.

Been there, done that with the tire not coming down. Finally borrowed a spare and let the tire shop cut it down. Frustrating for sure.

Buddies and I got stuck on a hunt in North Dakota with a spare that would not come down. Hours. Thank goodness it was in the evening so we didn't lose any time in the field.

Always carry a air pump and some tar tire plugs. Never know when they will come in handy. If some PETA jerkwad spikes you camp driveway you may have more than one flat.

Decided to paint the spare tire rim on my '04 Silverado this past summer. I thought I was going to have to cut it down also. Luckily, I kept the directions and was able to go though a recommended sequence to release it. Glad I wasn't in a hurry and the truck was up on a lift.
