Hey guys, i was wondering something.

When i go out to pattern this new shotgun and i am testing to see where its point of impact is, can i shoot target loads until i get it figured out and then do the final patterning with my turkey loads. Or do i have to strictly use the turkey loads only, which i hope i don't have to do because $3.75 a shot is not cheap lol.

TheSportsman

Just to start with, go with a good 1 1/8oz target load.

Ok, good! I guess a short distance like 15yds would be good enough for figuring out the poi/poa then move her out to 40 with the big boy loads?

Yes ! Use the cheap dove loads then move out to 40 , use the turkey choke you intend to use with the dove loads, you want the pattern fully constricted down to see exactly where the shot charge is being thrown  at close and longer ranges -

After you have figured how the gun shoots , try the turkey loads with the combination of a quality choke , most times but not all the time the turkey loads shoot in the same point as the dove loads , then shoot the good ammo at 40 to dial in the whole setup - you can then from there try several ammo offerings to decide what load is more lethal for you

What kind of sighting is on your gun? If it is adjustable then shoot at close range then move out. If not adj. then use cheap shell to see if you are on the paper at 40yds. Use 3'x3' paper. Use the choke you want.  Find the shell that patternes best, then adjust that shells pattern for POA/POI. When you have decided on your shell, shoot it close and far to see where it shoots.

Good Luck

John

Whatever brand of adjustable fiber optics that mossberg uses is whats on it. Im going to be testing the hevi 13 choke with the magnum blend and the hevi 7's.
