First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who worked on or participated in the shoot. This was the first State Championship still target shoot sponsored by the Jackson County Wild Turkeys. We're a new chapter, just in our second year but we have a great committee and group of volunteers.

We had a good turnout of shooters and spectators at the recently reopened Rend Lake Shooting Complex in Ina, Illinois. It was an overcast day but we concluded the event without being hampered by any rain.

The Winners

20 Gauge Open Class

1st Place: Steve Conover - Indian Creek Choke
2nd Place: Doris Bush - Truglo Choke

JAKES 20 Gauge Open Class

1st Place: Mallory Hertter - Truglo Choke
2nd Place: Skyler Peterman - Truglo Choke

Ladies 20 Gauge Open Class

1st Place: Doris Bush - Truglo Choke
2nd Place: Lisa Dover - Swarm Choke

12 Gauge Open Class

1st Place: Scott Kirsch - Indian Creek Choke
2nd Place: Clark Bush - Truglo Choke

We shot 12 Gauge Hevi-13 "Bronze" shells with 2 oz. of #6 shot and 20 Gauge Hevi-13 shells with 1.25 oz. of #6 shot in all classes.

We were able to begin the shoot at about 9:30 a.m. and shooters were on their way home by 1:00 p.m., with some very nice prizes, I might add.

Again, a big thank you to all the shooters, workers and to the Rend Lake Shooting Complex for making this shoot a real success.

Thanks,
Clark

What is the distance for the 20 ga. competion, and how many shot in the circle does it take to win or place? I see from the truglo site, they only have the 20 ga. chokes in remmy.

Thank you. I'll relate your congratulations to her. We shoot at a distance of 40 yards from the muzzle of the shotgun to the target.

We shoot in squads. (At this shoot we shot 5 squads of each class, 20 open, JAKES, 20 Ladies and 12 open.)

Each squad winner in a class becomes a finalist. They, all the winners, shoot until 1 shooter wins 2 squads and that person is the winner of that class.

Then the remaining shooters in that class shoot 1 last shot for 2nd place.

So, to win the class, you must first win at least 1 squad in that class and you must shoot against the others who also won a squad, and you must beat them all 2 times.

Currently, there are only Truglo SSX chokes in Rem-Choke. That will change very soon with additional models being offered.

Thanks again,
Clark

May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

Hey Mike,

Thank you. We enjoyed the day. Doris is a great teammate in every sense of the word. She supported my shooting for years and since she took it up in 2006 we've been a shooting team as well.

Thanks again,
Clark
