Whine of the turkey, I have a video.

I would call this the whine.

This is a penned turkey at the State Wildlife Center.  I had been playing my ringtone of gobbling turkeys when he started doing this.

What do you think?

It sounded like two very subtle, really soft yelps to me. Is that what you are talking about Ray and Joe? It sounds like a trumpet call if you could play it soft enough.

It's not very loud. I had to turn up my volume just to hear it.

I could barely hear it, too, but my first impression was like that of drenalinld, I would have called the sounds I heard two pairs of muffled, soft yelps.  However, since Joe raises turkeys and hears turkey sounds all the time, I would bow to his judgment on whether those sounds would be considered whines, or not.

Let's face it, turkeys make a lot of little odd-ball sounds at times that have to put in some category.  If we want to call those sounds "whines", then I have no basis for disagreement other than they do not really conform to the sounds that I would have called "classic" whines.

Joe has posted a number of video segments of his turkeys that have included sounds that I would call whines, ...and those are somewhat different from the sounds on Rays video.

Once again, I bow to better and more informed judgments on it than mine.
