Speed seat MOD I did. I now use it with a molle waist belt and ditched the vest.

I switched over to the Ol Tom chest pack last year and preferred it over a vest. Made a few changes for this year.

If you haven't seen it check Moonshine Leather Works facebook page. He redid a Dixon vest for a guy that is beyond cool.

Not to hijack this thread, but can you switch the boxcall and thermacell with each other on that Ol Tom Chest pack to get the box call away from my right side where I shoulder a gun? And did you find that those two attachments made it uncomfortable as far as bulk when sitting at the base of a tree working a bird? Looks like a great pack, but their web site says that weighs 5 pounds, which has to be a mistake. No way that weighs 5 pounds in my estimation.

Side pouches can be switched or removed all together. They do add bulk. I removed one last year and will be removing the other for this season. A couple times last year while working birds the pack got in the way. I've added two additional buckles so I can remove the pack from the harness with minimal movement if I get in a bind. The pack with the new harness is a little over 2 pounds.

Thank you for the feedback - I appreciate the reply.

Here is the first turkey vest I made. I made with some old mossy oak break up and shadow leaf material I've had for years. it is set up with the way I like my calls, shells etc placed. It has no seat and instead of the conventional back I made what I call the gobbler quiver. It could be used as a reversible vest.

Now that is cool!

I tell you a couple things I don't like on a vest. A double pot call pocket. I can't stand how far it sticks out. I had a Nomad vest for a short time and I took that pocket off. I also don't like box call pockets on a vest. I carry my box calls in a Glenda green holster that I have on the side of my vest. They should ditch box call pockets and add a reinforced pocket for shears.

I like box call pockets .... What I don't like is over complicated pockets with strings , and buckles and magnets ... etc.... Give me a long zip pocket that's waxed or whatever to make it water resistant or proof . I'll take  care of the rest. I understand why most don't like them as many vests ride very high ,and it's all up under your arms ... which is why I'm still using a  super elite 3 style vest .   I have an Old Tom vest I've been modifying every year for the past 15 seasons I think it's been, roughly. I can post some pics of the details of the mods when I get home later tonight.
But one thing I did was to remove most magnet closers and replaced them with good old fashioned buttons. Magnets aren't secure enough in the denser eastern terrain I hunt. I was all done losing strikers!
I also added and stitched in dedicated sleeves for a long box and trumpet.
One year I decided to lash a small skeletonized Esse knife to the vest strap. I also modified one of the inside pockets to accommodate my binoculars.

I'm a vest geek and recently got a Pure Strutter 18 vest and really like it. I'm gonna post some pics and initial review here soon and after the season.
