Hope for broken Remington 20ga compact bolt carriers

Don't want to get to far in front of my headlights but......

I am an owner of two Remington 11-87 20ga compacts. Both have broken bolt carrier blocks. The block sitting under the bolt carrier which holds the bolt handle. The part is made of pot metal and prone to break. Many of these guns were built in the late days of Remington when QC was not what it should be. This turns the gun into a proverbial boat anchor. Since these guns were made on a small frames there were fewer parts made than the older sub-gauges built on 12ga receivers. I have looked for a replacement part for nearly two years with no luck. There will be no parts for 11-87s ever coming from Remington.

I have found a machine shop/gunsmith who claims he can make the part. Initially the shop time cost was way more than anyone would be willing to pay. After many discussion and his researching this issue the machinist/gunsmith believes there is enough of a market to prototype a replacement block and a jig to braze the new part on. I have no financial interest in this other than repairing my guns. Hopefully also giving fellow turkey hunters with this problem or a future problem some hope. I am posting this for anyone who has one of these guns. I have just sent the parts to be prototyped and will be updating this post as progress is made. If you have or know someone with this problem please refer them to this post or thy can message me and I'll be happy to tell them what I know. I didn't list the gunsmith because this process is just starting and didn't want them overwhelmed with calls before this has panned out. Once I get some info I'll be happy to share the results and the contact info.

Thx Bryan Perry
