Tactical Turkey Gun

Thoughts on the Mossberg 835 or 535 Tactical Gun. I am looking at buying one and just wanted some opinions. Thanks guys

I would go 835. The overbore seems to help with patterning. They seem to be a little easier to get performace out of. I have had my 835 since 1994 and have had zero trouble out of it. Before I would buy the 535 I would look at the 870's. The 870 is going to be a higher quality gun then the mossberg's, but you end up with a tight barrel. If Remington would ever build a overbored 870 Mossberg would have a tough time selling the 835's to turkey hunters.
On another the note, when I bought mine it was because the bps 10 gauge I had been using was so heavy and it was the only camo gun at the shop. I thought it looked cool. Had no idea if it would shoot.

I have owned the 535 tactical, then put a knoxx stock on it. The disadvantage of the knoxx is, you cannot run a conventional tube style scope on it. Red dots are fine, but you will get your bell rung by a tube scope with a knoxx stock.
I now own a Mossberg 835, and actually prefer the standard stock due to the top tang safety, and the ability to use a conventional scope on it.
The 835 will out pattern the 535 all day long. It really cannot hang with the overbored 835.

I picked up the 835 TT for the spring season.  I really like it.  The adjustable stock is just the ticket for me.  I was a little worried about the 20" barrel, but it patterns nicely.  I prefer to shoot at the closer distances.

My only complaint:  The little dinky recoil pad kept coming off and I ultimately lost it in the field.  Going to replace it with a Shooter's Friend.

If I were going to do it all over again, I would buy the 835 instead of the 535.

The 835 has an overbored barrel which helps deliver tighter, and more consistent patterns when compared to the standard diameter 535 barrel.

The 835 also will likely recoil somewhat less due to the increased weight, and less resistance to the shot column moving through the barrel.

I know this thread is Mossberg oriented, but I shoot Remington tactical guns and I love them. I have the ShurShot 870 and recently bought the Max Gobber 870. Tough as nails, pattern great, and built like tanks. Mossbergs may pattern a little better, don't know, never owned one. One thing for sure, though, you'll be at least $200 deeper in the Remingtion guns than you will in the Mossbergs.

I shoot the 835 Tactical Turkey. Very light and easy to pack around in woods. Hevi #7 3-1/2 and Stardot choke, yeilded around 250-270 @ 40yds. Perfect hunting pattern.

At able ammo the remington is $25 more. A non-issue.

I was talking about the difference between the Mossberg Tactical vs. Max Gobbler/Shurshot variety. The Max Gobblers are $200 more than the Mossberg equivalent.

I have the 535 ATS. I put a Kick's GT  in .665 on it with a Simmons Black Diamond scope. It makes the white paper targets turn grey at 30yrds LOL. Its the most comfortable shoudering, carrying and all around gun Ive ever had. Just my 2cents

I put a Kick's GT  in .665 on it??? what is that still new to turkey hunting only used what my dad gave me.
