A couple cedar live edge trumpet displays

I posted the pic to show you how the heartwood changes some over time.  Nothing can be done about it losing that purple color, it just does with time. Still pretty wood as it ages.  It was a challenge to get the edges square on the bed without a jointer, but it can be done.  I enjoy solving problems too,  makes it fun.

Check out a router sled on youtube if you come across some slabs that are not quite flat enough or too thick.  Easy to do, just makes a mess. I just made mine out of straight pine and it works very well. 

You do nice work.  Is the finish acrylic poly?
