Glenda Green Seat, speed seat mod to vest

So this season I purchased a Glenda Green tube seat. It seems when it comes to a vest I'm always trying to find the right one, a lot of the decision making comes down to the seat.

So far I've liked my Cabelas vest the most. (Probably going to buy there newer lighter version because the OG cloth one is actually kinda heavy). I always end up going back to this vest so I took my seat to an upholstery shop and told them to stuff this thing with the best foam they got. To be honest it wasn't bad, but I wanted something better.

I decided to attach my new seat to my vest.

At first I tried the carabiner, but it would slosh around as I would walk. Tried attaching it to the vest with a carabiner and it would do the same thing. So I held it, but a gun in one hand, and a cushion in the other wasn't my cup of tea. Unfortunately it sat idle in the truck until I did this mod.

The cabelas speed seat, is probably one of the best for convenience and practicality, it's quick and you don't have to think about it. So I studied my Glenda Green seat and went for it.

You can use the original straps that come with the vest, but there's no going back if you do that. I'm sure they sell what you need at hobby lobby or Michaels etc... I was lucky enough to have another cabelas vest sitting around that was to beat up to use, so I use it for parts.

I cut off the old speed seat straps and buckles from that vest. I then sewed them onto the Glenda Green seat. If you don't know how to sew and don't have a sewing machine, maybe find someone that can do it for you.

It's a pretty convenient way to use the seat, with that said, there is a minor slosh sound due to the fabric it's made of (good quality water proof material) so... to combat that, as well as have a tighter profile I ordered some heavy duty magnets from Amazon. I'm going to put a couple magnets on the seat so it can hold tight to the game bag on the back of the vest, then just flip it when I need to.

Now I know some may say the mis-matching camo would bother them, rightfully so... Maybe I'll get a nomad vest, or some other OG bottomland vest. In  the meantime, this is fine with me.

Used it today. Glad it's there.

Nice job. I modded the seat on my Alps Grandslam to a speed seat mod set up. It's worked great the last few years. I still use the factory straps to strap it down when I'm walking around. I ran some elastic strap through mine.
