Predators, yes these are a problem, but think about it way of life has changed over the years in controlling predators back in the day of making a living off these farms in small rural counties has really changed. Back on our farm we had the old farm truck with gun rack in the back window and always had a 22 or 30/30 and sometimes a shotgun. If we saw anything that looked like a predator we would put a bullet down range. We could leave the farm in that old truck with guns in the gun rack and go pickup supplies in town and leave the windows down and never lock the truck. All of this is no more it's called how society has changed over time. The same with turkeys less predator control does play a part but again it's also how society and the environment has also changed with good days / bad days of the turkey population.
