I was wondering if any of y'all have ever flown with yalls turkey huntin stuff, talking about items in your carry on luggage. I know that binos, and range finder is fine for carry on. I don't see a reason that pot calls would be an issue, but what about strikers? They seem to be scared of anything that looks pointy so just curious if any of y'all have had an issue with that. Thank you.

From my experience, TSA was more concerned with my bedazzled jeans than the turkey calls in my luggage.

Sounds about right

Gun case needs 4 locks ...bring extras, I've had to give out locks at numerous occasions in airports to gun owners that were about to miss Thier flights ...put your knife or pruning shears in that case ....load up the case with your items until it's near max weight , clothes , equipment etc..

Ammo needs to be in a whole...complete factory box , no loose shells ..put that in the gun case

Most airlines allow you to bring a coat/jacket with your carry on in the plane ....fill the pockets with your stuff ...socks shirts etc

Most airlines alow you to bring a small bag "day pack-purse" in addition to your carry on overhead bin luggage ..take of advantage of that ...I use a book bag and stuff that under the front seat

What your trying to do is avoid paying for a additional checked in bag by displacing all your gear into your ...gun case ..your carry on luggage ...your carry on personal bag...and your jacket

Weigh everything before you go ...

I don't trust TSA or baggage handlers with much. Obviously, you have no choice with your gun. I put my binoculars, GPS(if carried), and range finder in a back pack I carry on. Same with my pot calls, box calls, strikers and even mouth calls. I had a ceramic call broken when I packed it in my checked baggage years ago. Nevermore.

This way, I know I will have my calls with me and not messed up.

I usually wear a pair of boots and pack another pair.

I do put my knife, clippers and Leatherman in the gun case.

I place my shells in my checked luggage, not in the gun case, even though it's legal to do so. I've had issues before with the airline folks on this issue as they don't know any better. It's best to keep the shells in the original box to avoid aggravation.

As others have said, definitely place a lock on every place on your case that a lock can be placed. The airline folks are rigid on this even though a doubly locked case is just as secure as one with 4 locks.

Strikers as a carry on has never been an issue, no more than carrying a BIC pen on board which definitely could be used as a weapon.
