Journal template

I've decided to start keeping a detailed journal of all my turkey hunts. Focus on key details like location, weather, gobbling activity, other hunters, what seemed to work and what didn't, along with kill stats like weight, beard length, etc.

Does anybody have a template they use, or have built themselves, that they'd be willing to share? I envision something I can scratch on paper, but eventually goes into the computer.

 I scratch in a journal what you just said minus some.

Date, location, weather, activity, hunt, success, if a new area maybe a blurb about it. That's about it. Weather, date, location, activity are I think are the main four items to concentrate on. The rest are just added memories.

I personally encourage all to do an "Outdoor" journal. Years down the road it will be educational to you. You will be able to see patterns that will help you.

Sorry - I don't have a template to offer at this time.

I've batted around the idea of starting a hunting journal the last few years from the perspective of what knowledge I could gain and a way to document lessons learned.  In time, I'm sure it would make me a better hunter in some way, much like what WV Flopper suggests.  However, for some reason it struck me for the first time when I read this thread that a journal could be impactful far beyond how it may improve my own hunting success.

I was just imagining how I would absolutely treasure such a journal if my father or grandfather had kept one from their days in the field and passed it along to me.  The thought of having something to pass to my kids/grandkids one day would actually be more motivation for me to keep one than improving my own skill set.

I think that in addition to the physical facts of the day (weather, location, activity, success, etc.) a short line or two on my mindset of that day, funny stories of how I was humbled, develop the character of the gobbler or buck I've been chasing all season, or things that I observed in wonder that were created by the hand of God would be a great additions to the journal entry of the day.

I journal is a great idea.  I tournament bass fished  from 1995 to 2010 and kept journals of the tournaments and pre fish days.  They were a great tool then and today I can pull them out and read them and the memories come flooding back.
