That's all for getting kills on video or social media posting.. nothing that i care to see or do in killing gobblers. I wish them well.. I see major problems with this kind of turkey killing.. I really wouldn't call it turkey hunting or fair chase. IMO...

I'm going to say this, then I'm out of this useless conversation.  The reason I feel reaping should be outlawed has ZERO to do with safety ...
I'm about a 50/50 split. Safety/Efficacy. And with regard to safety, I could care less about any idiot in this thread, but I do genuinely worry about the kids without mentors who grow up idolizing YouTube heroes and Instagram hunters. I wish there were more solid models for them to follow.

Anything for some thumbs up and likes from a stranger.
"6 people like this". Can't fix stupid. I'm waiting for the first fanner to get blasted in the face by TSS at about 35 yards.

And if that were to happen there's absolutely no way the "victim" could sue. Even the most rookie attorney could win that one.

I didn't think about the lawsuit implications. You're 100% right, no way
for them to win that lawsuit.

IMHO, you have good reason to be scared. I don`t blame folks for having to hunt on public land, but IMO there are just too many irresponsible people with firearms out there. Sure, I like to harvest a nice tom as much as the next guy, but a very important part of why I turkey hunt is to relax and enjoy the Spring woods. I don`t know at all if I could do that on  public land worrying about some yahoo or 20 something year old that wasn`t raised responsibly.

My only issue with "reaping" (I hate that it's called that) is that it is such an effective method for killing turkeys. I know several hunters that tag out every single year because they can crawl at a dominant bird in a field behind a decoy. I think it probably has as much of an effect on turkey populations as anything else. I have done it before. Several years ago. And it's fun. But I grew up and realized that it's not turkey hunting. It's not what turkey hunting is really about and it requires exactly ZERO skill. With the way things are going today I honestly would like to see it made illegal. And like many have mentioned on here already it gets posted on social media and more people getting in to hunting are using it exclusively and then thinking they are turkey hunters. It's just a bad cycle and bad for the sport in my opinion

Turkey hunting used to be about the turkey.    It's sad, but for many people today it's all about me, me, me!
This is so true. Sad but true.

If these dipshits didn't think it was so cool to be labeled a "turkey killer", these days, this crap wouldn't be so popular.

I personally have far more respect for the birds than I do for a great many of the " hunters" pursuing them. I`ve almost reached  the point that I feel that the birds need to be protected from some of these yahoos. The birds have enough going against them as it is.

The addiction will cost you time and money and alienate those close to you. I can give you the names of a dozen addicts — myself included — whose wives begin to get their hackles up a week before turkey season starts and stay mad until a week after it closes.
