Learn to call. Use Youtube or videos to help you. Watch a video called "So You Want to be a Turkey Hunter" if you can find it.
Good set ups. Turkeys have great eyesight, hide well. Clip brush and make blinds if you have to. Get in as close to a gobbler as you reasonably can when he's gobbling on the roost.
Don't call until he flies down. If you want to do one series of soft wake up yelps to let him hear you first, it's OK.
Don't overcall. As long as he's moving towards you only call enough to keep him moving. TV and Youtube is full of overcalling. They edit out the long waits, but know there will often be some waiting.
If you don't call him in early, come back after about 9am to that area and try again. After he breeds the hens they go off and he gets lonely again. 9a-noon is still a good time to kill a turkey.
When he shuts up, be patient and keep your eyes open.
Don't be afraid to move around and find the birds, especially mid morning. Walk those logging roads and trails calling every couple hundred yards. Don't call until you have stopped and identified a nearby setup spot, sometimes you will be close to 'em. Be ready for a quick set up anytime you call.
