Has anyone hunted Sumter national forest in South Carolina. Was looking at giving it a try but I wasn't sure how hard it got hit. I don't mind other hunters as long as there is not someone at the bottom of every tree haha. Any input would be appreciated thanks.

There are birds their but it gets pressured pretty hard the first 2 weeks of season. Plenty of small hills, bottoms , and thick areas.

Thanks. I have a friend who has pointed me to a area in union county. I was just curious how much it was pressured.

It gets hit pretty hard. There is much less pressure in the mountainous area of SNF--Andrew Pickens Ranger District, but probably less birds too than elsewhere. Union County gets hit hard, so study your map and go mid week if possible. Good luck!

Thanks

One other thing. The SCDNR has made things unfriendly to out of state folks. The various licenses are very steep. Along with that, the state of SC charges $100 for 2 tags for nonresidents. In state residents like myself get 3 tags for $5. Mine are free cause I'm a seasoned citizen. They've also as of last year limited you to 1 bird for the first 10 days of the season, so if you come, come on or after April 10.

Thanks. I saw the price it is a little steep. I'm only a little over two hours away and was just looking to try something different for a little 2-3 day trip. I have decent ground here in va but I like different scenery haha
