De facto gun control. Don`t need to take guns away if you can figure out a way to starve them to death. Was in a large Walmart. Not a bullet or shell to be had. Not one.
I`m not saying that this is some grand conspiracy or that the pandemic hasn`t played a role, but I`ve never seen anything like this in my seven decades on the planet.

Now I'm not saying that you voted democratic, but when I see people make posts/ statements similar to yours, whether it be ammo, guns, gas prices, public bathroom usage, renaming things, etc etc etc, my typical response is, 'you voted for this'.
Once again, don't take this wrong.
It's my way of dealing with what I think is happening to our society.

I'm proud to say I sure in the h#$% didn't vote for this....

Yup, me too.
I can't figure out if I'm correct or just an old timer that can't accept or understand the thoughts of these  people.

Nah it's still being made and shipped as usual especially to the big box stores. People are just buying it up like bread and milk before a snow storm. Our wal mart has had bare shelves on many occasions too but then I've gone in there many times and there was a variety of different ammo on the shelves. Yesterday I saw 30/06, 270, 308, and 45/70 rounds in the cabinet and high brass remington 20 ga and 16ga long range shells too. Even 28ga game loads. A few cheaper turkey loads as well. I talked to a friend of mine since high school that has worked there for as long as I can remember and he told me they still get it in as usual but it just sells a little quicker than usual now. Then he told me he got a bunch of 22 ammo in that morning and it was the big bulk boxes everyone wants but it sold out already. So yeah its still out there and hitting stores it's just a matter of running in to it. After everyone gets their personal stash stocked up and they get tired of spending their extra money on it it'll get easier to find I'm sure.

Well, I've been on 8 emailing lists for over a month now and still not an email saying they have any. These are all the big sellers of ammo.
Cabelas has been empty for a month.
Dunham's had a total of 2 boxes of turkey and 5 boxes of steel.
When you talk to the store workers they say they haven't received any in a long time and have no idea when they will get their next shipment.
I can see people stocking up on handgun and .223 for self defense but how do you explain turkey loads not on the shelves?
So you have to wonder where it's going.

3 local stores are getting in 10 grand worth of ammo twice a week and selling it out within a couple hours.  The shortage is being replaced and people are now going all "toilet paper" on ammo.  My brother is in the retail biz and said the ammo itself has only gone up maybe 30%.  I don't know about y'all, but I am gonna remember who the gougers are when this settles down.

Back in that y2k BS I worked at an archery pro shop, we sold a small amount of guns also, sold all of our ammo prior to that deal.

Over the next 5 years we bought a bunch of it back cheap!!!

Same thing with 9/11 and the same with AR's 10ish years ago.

I know these are different circumstances but it will level out.

What are the stores?
And yes, I can't believe the manufacture is charging the stores twice as much now.

Academy Sports is one of them. 3 box limit of any kind of ammo.  I will shop there a lot once the ammo shortage gets back to normal.  They are not gouging at all and deserve our loyalty.

Another is a local gun range/supply store that is co-owned by a friend of mine.  They are operating on the same markup, but selling to their own members or day shooters only. If folks don't have ammo, they can't use their range.  Fair enough. A lot of ranges are doing that.  I will probably buy all my ammo from them or Academy if they are out in the future.

The last one is our local Bass Pro.  Don't know their markup though.  Don't know limit there either.

I just built a gun range at my house (with backstop berm) and steel targets.  Not good timing for recreational shooting!
