Just heard that Fred Evans passed away at age 92. A NYS DEC wildlife biologist icon that was responsible for the trap and transfer program back in the late 1950s. If you hunt Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland and other states on the east coast it was Fred who sent you them turkeys years ago...R.I.P, God's speed Sir...

RIP Fred. I had just listened to a Podcast about him just the other day. He did some good things for us

There was a big write up on Fred Evans in New York Outdoor News.

Some pictures from ceremony at Red House,  Allegheny state park. There is a nice turkey display with historical story about him in the building.

One of the greats we owe alot to!

As a New Yorker and a turkey hunter I am ashamed I had not heard of him til this was posted. I have read about him a bit since and everybody in the Northeast owe him quite a bit
