Turkey nesting habitat, and turkey ranges
February 13, 2011, 10:27:15 PM
Do Eastern hens have any rhyme or reason to where they prefer to nest?
And, given the opportunity, would gobblers prefer to be in thicker hardwoods over very open hardwoods.
and lastly, will gobblers roost where they know hens are nesting? and How close to hens roost to their nest, say early and midway through the breeding cycle?
Seems like odd questions, but the answers are to help out with a topic I am writing on. Thank you

Scottyb,
They nest whatever they can cover the find. They particularly fond of nesting close trees. It blocks a predators view.
I don't why gobblers prefer to be in thicker hardwoods over very open hardwoods. And gobblers don't roost close to a hens nest.
