Title: The Old Man
Post by: SCGobbler on April 13, 2020, 07:37:22 PM
The old man peered into the early morning light.  His ear was cocked and his frame was stalwart as he watched the sky turn from night.

In the distance he heard it, a call in the morn. The sound of someone's mate who was full of forlorn.

Her song was magical, the notes were just right.  She pierced through the dawn leading him to believe all was not lost nor all gone.

She flew through the trees arms spread wide in full sight lighting gently on the ground with a flutter.  The duff and the leaves on the ground loosed a very small shudder.

The old man was so close alas there was nothing to do but watch an old man with the likes of Betty Lou.

With a flip of his snood and a folding of his wing the monarch slipped off with her majesty miss thing.

A good man won today but old man fear not. Tomorrow is a new day and I promise you today will not be forgot.

This happens to us all more times than any other. It is days from above that bind us in this, a society of turkey hunting brothers.
