Title: Opening day success in South Carolina
Post by: Roost 1 on March 22, 2020, 08:44:59 PM
Made it down in time to meet up with Hookedspur and look over some properties. We found lots of sign and heard couple gobbles Sat evening.
I decided to hunt a big pine stand that borders a huge swamp. Cold and windy this morning, couldn't get back as far as I wanted due to lots of mud and muck. Heard 1 gobble 1 on the limb way back towards swamp. Decided to sit and wait on one closer, never heard another gobble. Blind calling off and on and 8:30 had one answer prolly couple hundred yards away. Called a little more no response, 9:00 see some birds coming thru the pines, jakes followed by hens. About 10 minutes behind them comes 2 gobblers. Great way to start the season. Another state checked off the list.
