Title: Scouting
Post by: FullChoke on March 12, 2020, 10:09:00 AM
I was unsuccessful in any of the WMA Draw hunt lotteries that I applied for this year. This means that I will be hunting other public lands for the first 2 weeks of our season. I have had some great hunts on the local National Forest lands in the past, so I shifted gears and took off last Sunday to scout them out and see what condition they were in. We had a wicked straight line wind storm front that smashed central Mississippi about a week and a half ago that snapped many pine trees on half and uprooted hardwoods everywhere I went. I was still generally able to get around to several areas, saw where the forestry service had clear cut some blocks of timber and found gobbler and hen tracks in the roads. A quick step or two and these were eliminated and their locations noted on my hunting map app. I now know where I will at least be starting the hunt on Saturday morning. Good luck to those also taking to the woods this Saturday.

I love this magnificent sport.

Cheers  ;D

I am locked and loaded ready for the hunt in the morning, going to my new club that I have only stepped foot on four times but it looks good every where, I still think its to early here, I usually use this weekend to scout but if one wants to work its on! I wish we would move our season back at lest a week.
