Title: Central PA Gobbling 2019
Post by: HFultzjr on March 25, 2019, 10:40:00 AM
Ok, the start of another year. I'm getting a late start this year, as I have had the flu/cough/cold/whatever for the past 4 weeks. Antibiotics are finely kicking it.

03/25/2019 - 45 degrees, cloudy/overcast and calm.

Went out back of house 6:00 with my usual cup of coffee for a listen.
1st bird over on the mountain was about 6:10
After that at a small area over on the mountain carried on until I had to go in at 7:00
Sounded like 7-8 different birds.
Gobbling up a storm.

47 Degrees at the pickup, stars were out but it clouded over. Slight breeze occasionally.

First gobble of the day was at 6:35. The old man was in a different area about 45 minutes away and his first gobble of the day was at about 6:45.

I didn't get out this morning, but it was quite "breezy" up on my hill.

35 degrees at the pickup, slight breeze, overcast with some fog.

Birds started going around 6:15, maybe a touch later. I was very far off when I thought I heard the first bird and had to move closer. They were definitely hammering at 6:20 after we'd advanced a hundred and a half. Great morning with my boy. He'd never heard 3 two year olds getting after it like that.

Very clear and calm. About 45 degrees.
Birds started hammering over on the mountain very early, at 1st crack of light.
Sounded like about 8-10 gobblers spread apart pretty good.
Then slowed down slightly about 6:30, but still no more than 5 minutes between a couple gobbles.
Kept up steady until I had to go in at 7:00.
Best day yet.

It was so windy at my place, I don't think I could of heard a gobble within 75 yards. Woke up, checked the conditions, and went back to bed. I have lots of days to go out, so can pick and choose. Plus, as I get older I much prefer the nicer days...............LOL!

60 degrees. Fog. Dripping trees from last evening / night rains. Zero roost gobbling. Did strike up a couple. 2 yr old played the game. Son killed him at 32 yds. 7:15. Working on finding one for the old man now  ;D

Nice job. I was out with the wife (gotta keep her happy), last night and had a little too much fun! Decided to sleep in, as I have a couple days next week I can go.
