Title: Remington 11-87 Federal TSS 9s
Post by: Deputy 14 on March 13, 2019, 08:16:51 PM
Shots were each through a clean and polished barrel. Little bleak on numbers for what I anticipated. I still think it's this stupid flite control was. That being said it shot a fairly open pattern at 20, all the shot was spread out over roughly a 12" circle so they have some wiggle room.

Federal TSS 9s 1 3/4 oz
Remington 11-87

I'm shooting simalr numbers with .690 and .700 Carlson's.  I would think a .662 would put up better 10 numbers.  Have you tried another choke

I shot same load with 21" 870 with the 640 Carlsons
Got 290 in the 10" and another 270 in the 20".
Not the best just FYI.

No I have not. I had a gift card to burn and bought a box to try. I really didn't want buy a choke for them as I shoot lead anymore. Most of not all my shots are limited to about 30 yards where I hunt so not a great deal of needing anything more. The way they patterned through the choke I have makes it a little better for me at the distances I shoot.
I've read these federal like to be choked down, always something different than everything else with these wads.

Try a regular full choke, it shot better than my Carlson 665 as far as good even dense hunting pattern with the fed 9. It was real good at thirty with plenty of wiggle room and was good farther than you would want to shoot.

Try shooting with a fouled barrel. My Gold will not shoot worth a dang on a squeaky clean bore.

I have to shoot 1 or 2 field loads before I shoot a Mag load for patterning purposes.

I have the 11-87 greenleaf with the 21" barrel. I was getting similar open patterns as the OP with the Federal TSS 9s out of a .660 Rhino. I am getting really good tight patterns with the Carlson .640 TSS. I'm pretty sure it's the flight control wad.

I have a couple boxes of Apex 7.5s 2.25oz that I want to try out of each tube, or at least see what kind if pattern I get with those out of the Rhino. Turkey hunting is getting in the way atm . . .
