just 1 call? it would have to be a mouth call
but pickin the one and only diaphragm would be tough

Tom doesn't want to admit it but his favorite call is a Gooserbat Double Bit.

ha. the double bit helped me get 2 of my 3 spring toms last year
but ... i used bacon to call in and shoot 3 fall season toms in 2016
so, i might have a new favorite  ;D

I couldn't handle it any longer today after finding out my wife drew what is our early season tag here in MN.  Already started lining up the local properties and sat down all weekend and got as many hunts as I could packed into April.  Have one end of March archery hunt in NE already taken care of and KS lined up.  I wish April was 30 days longer!

I like using a Sinclair 3.25'' titanium over glass mesquite pot down here in South Texas. I've traded a few hunts and had out of staters hunt with me and Johns calls always make it easy to decapitate rios less than 10yards every season.

If I could only take one it'd be my Dad's Purple Heart over cedar. That call makes gobblers want to die and it can do everything you need to kill turkeys.

With that said, my hanks Osage goulds paired with a Lyman snakewood is probably coming out of my vest first thing opening morning this spring.

It would be a dead heat between my glass call lee made me or a cheap ring zone slate my dad bought me (my first call) I called most my birds in with the two

Central Virginia is home for me. It's the only state I've ever hunted in. I don't really have that much desire to venture out chasing birds or whitetails for that matter. The only thing that's got me itching to venture out is elk, at this point though that's just a dream.

Our season opened Saturday but I didn't get to hunt until Monday and it was almost successful.  I had a fun hunt and had one at 10 steps but I couldn't get on him in thick brush. He completely circled me and I never got a shot off before he couldn't find the hen he was hunting and left. Today I didn't hear a bird.

Opening day in Virginia here. My hunting partner killed this awesome bird at 10:05. He gobbled good on the limb responded a few times on the ground but went quite for a few hours. We hung with him and I struck him again at 9:45. Got watch an awesome show for about 200 yards of him strutting and gobbling all the way to 6 steps. 24.8 pounds, 9.5" beard 1 1/8" spurs. We'll be back at it in the morning and I'm up to bat. Beautiful plume on the bird also.

Gobbler didn't want to die this morning. He came off the limb hammering got to about 70 yards and drew a line in the sand. Strutted and gobbled for 45 minutes until he found something better to go do in the opposite direction. Birds have been very vocal all morning, just haven't found the right one.

I had a bad hunt yesterday evening. Shot at a turkey and somehow didn't connect which hasn't happened in 6-7 years and then had a pack of hogs come in. I shot the biggest hog square in the side of the head at 20 yards. Hit it so hard I watched dirt fly off its face and it ran away never to be seen again.  Definitely a humbling hunt.

After sitting for an hour in 25 MPH winds and starting to rain I had given up.  Took my vest off and started walking a hardwood bottom looking for morels.  After walking a few hundred yards the wind died down just for a few seconds and I heard a gobble.  I eased up to the trail that goes through our lease and heard him again.  I closed the distance some and sat on a stump on the side of the trail.  I had my gun and still in camo but left my vest and deeks when I decided to give up.  Luckily I kept my mouth call in.  A few yelps and he gobbled back.  Next thing I know here he comes running around a bend in the trail.  Gun still in my lap and not much cover.  He stops about 80 yard to strut a bit.  A couple soft yelps and he starts running again right at me.  If I didn't go to raise my gun up I think he would've ran right past me.  Soon as he saw the gun come up he put on the brakes and made one putt but it was too late for him.  Best bird I've ever taken.

This season has been unique... I didn't score any of my Oklahoma birds because they all were smallish.  Had to skip Missouri and New Mexico happened with messed up pics.  Oh well I have one last chance in Nebraska towards the end of the month.
