I was thinking of getting a crystal mistress and I was wondering those who have had or have one would you consider it as good as it gets or average compared to some of the other glass calls? Also is it one of the better pots he builds? Thanks in advance for any info.

Anything from David will be great. That being said I think his mistress is one of the best crystals out there. Do not overlook his double glass, it is very underrated IMO

I have 3 of his calls. Crystal mistress, metal mouth,cackling Crystal. I think the Crystal mistress is the best sounding one to my ear.

You won't go wrong with any of his calls. But in answer to your question yes it is one of the best crystals out there imo and you wouldn't be disappointed. And hey if you don't like it put it in the classifieds, promise it won't be there long.

I think it is one of the better ones out there. Pretty sure i will own one of all his pot calls before it's said and done. That being said,Jimmy Shaffer also makes a very good crystal call as well.

I love crystal calls. I have had the twisted sister and the metal mouth and I have the crystal mistress. Its an amazing call and I feel its his best crystal call. I also would echo one of the above comments and say that his double Glass pot call is very underrated and its a keeper as well.
Another call worth mentioning is the Orange Agate Crystal over Aluminum from Lon Trice. Its way better than the Metal Mouth and about 20 bucks cheaper.

honestly the crystal mistress would be the only call you need to kill a bird. its a great call , but like many of us here , you will end up getting the bug and have so many pot calls that you will have a hard time picking the ones you want to carry day to day. as mentioned , lons orange agate crystal is a fine sounding call and is about 20 bucks cheaper. I had the mistress and ended up trading it and keeping the twisted sister. they were very close in sound but I was slightly partial to the sisters yelp. good luck.

my first custom pot was a twisted sister and I dont think I'll ever get rid of it, no matter what I buy each year it always seems to make the vest. Often its just the sister and mad hen I for me on pot calls.
Mistress was the first custom pot call I ever got. And it has been my go to call ever since. Its the best pot call I've ever played.
I've owned several crystal calls and the Mistress is the best. The turkeys eat it up too!
I sold both my Mistress and my Twisted Sister and had John Sinclair build me a special Crystal of Titanium in a Kingswood pot.. I don't know that I have ever run something with more Turkey in it period.
You can't go wrong with the mistress or the sister but if you want something that doesn't sound like every other guy in the woods with the same pot... ya might rethink on it...
Thanks for all the opinions. I have a John Sinclair king wood brass it is really nice, called in one with it Saturday. Just thinking of getting something to go with it that is equally good jus different sound. I have been reading some of the posts trying to figure what most people like and there seems to be a few makers that are brought up regular. Thanks for all the responses
Mistress or Sister both sound good id choose the Sister I just like the raspy sound better, with a snakewood or purpleheart striker its a killer. Good luck choosing.

I honestly have never heard one of his calls that I didn't like, and that is including his box calls. The crystal mistress is obviously a fantastic call, just look at the awards it continues to win, but man.....that Halloran double glass.....it is something else.
Looks like I am the 1 out of 1000, but I had the Twisted Sister, Crystal Mistress, and his slate or aluminum? call, was not a fan of any of them.....go figure.

Not unusual at all, I have played lots of great pots from great callmakers that just didn't fit my playing style, that is what is so great about all of these awesome calls out there now, there is always options.

Same here. Buddy of mine bought it for me back around Christmas and it opened my eyes to a new world of calls. Didn't realize what I'd been missing. Figured at the moment, one would be good enough. Started looking for a new tube call just for some variety amongst my tubes and ended up striking a deal for a tube and couple scratchers. One scratcher was an SS custom. Blew my socks off. Since then, the custom calls have over run my house. Currently carrying two Crystal calls. The Halloran mistress has a nice higher pitched ring to it and that's why I'll carry it. Sometimes the birds just want a higher pitched clean sounding yelp.
I love David's calls they fit my had perfect and all of them are the same exact size the mistress is my favorite but the double glass is a close second I carry both them but will be hunting with the metal mouth this weekend it has the finest quiet Yelp of any call j have ran

David knows Turkey calls. That mistress is one of the best. I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

Don't discount the $20 primos power crystal. Seen lots of turkeys spend their last minutes coming to that sound.

Just listened to some of John Sinclairs sound files and some of them do sound good to me. Not all because I have my own style.
It is true that most of the Turkey hunters I have run into are playing walmart calls or e-bay. Course I to buy from e-bay on occasion.
Currently I am using David Holloran's Twisted Sister and the Metal mouth 2 plus a Butski's walnut and glass. Hope the woods don't turn out to be full of Holloran calls this year!
