Title: Scratch Box Recording
Post by: gergg on March 24, 2021, 02:40:47 PM
You may remember I recorded a test scratch box last year, I made a 2nd one and recorded it here. I am just messing around on different spots on the box, so there are some screeches here and there (too much chalk), but was curious how this 2nd one sounded to you. This is a Black Walnut & Cedar combo, I am playing on the Walnut surface with a standard Snakewood striker (it plays like a pot call). I am in the woods approx 25 yards from the recorder.....at the 50 second mark I did not shoot a gobbler....lol....I am going to take this one hunting with me over the next few days to see what the birds think about it.

I think it sounds great. Soft calling you'd kill hell out of one.

Thanks CC......I like this little call, sounds very realistic in the woods and it can be played very softly which I like too.

In close to 4 decades of turkey hunting, the times I've been fooled, thinking a hunter's calling was a turkey, hasn't been a lot. But, when it has happened, most of the time it was either with an air call (wingbone, trumpet, cane) or a scratchbox.

Sounded sweet Greg.

Thanks EZ...... I have been in the middle of birds all week, going to test the little scratcher on them tomorrow.

Yeah, that was pretty funny, perfectly timed gun fire from my neighborhood.

I used it one morning, had a bird answer me for a while, but didn't get close enough. It rained, or was wet so many times after that I didn't use it.
