Went out Sat. AM, heard some yelping about 7:20 but no gobbling.  On my way up the road heading home saw a gang of 15-16 turkeys in a field, 8 of which were longbeards and the rest were jakes.  Feel like once they break up some will head my way as it was only a quarter of mile up from where I hunt.   Sunday morning I went to some national forest and didn't hear anything, walked two miles round trip.  Lots of acorns back in there in the fall but when I hunted there during the late turkey season in January I never saw a leaf turned over.  I'll go back one more time to that spot and see if anything changes.  Back at it Saturday AM.

Scouted a new piece of property I just recently got permission on in Prince William Co, no roost gobbles but a lot of gobbler tracks and a lot of scratching

Saw two strutters today in the Northern Shenandoah Valley.  Did not see the hens as the gobblers were just slipping into the woods no doubt following hens.  Both had full fans so they weren't Jakes.

Went out Saturday AM to a spot I hunt and nothing, which really surprised me until I was headed home and saw the same group from the previous week up the road in a field with the addition of a few hens.  I counted about 6 longbeards in the group with the rest jakes and hens, altogether it was about 20 or so.  Bright side was they had spent some time on the place I hunt and scratched the heck out of it.  Went to some NF on Sunday and heard 4, started about 7:10AM.  They gobbled quite a bit even once they hit the ground, heard several hens also.

Saturday I heard a total of 4, 2 were on the farm I hunt and they gobbled good.  Got going right at 6:30AM, the other two were on neighboring farms and only gobbled a couple of times.

Sunday went to another spot and didn't hear the first gobble until 7:30, it was real foggy at daylight.  It was two birds together that weren't roosted too far from me they must have just pitched down once the fog broke.  Saw several other groups of birds on the ride home, at least 4-5 other gobblers.  One was with a group of 7 hens, no jakes or other gobblers.  I felt for him, he has his work cut out for him  ;)

Campbell County south of Lynchburg has been good the last couple weeks. Seems like the gobblers are starting to separate. First light has them sounding off in different areas on the farms I'm surrounded by. Saw a jake tending a dozen hens a couple days ago in a cow field.

Fog was thick here on the mountain yesterday morning.
Tussled with one for about an hour and ended up getting my butt handed to me. He was burning the woods down gobbling though.

Most fun I've had turkey hunting, without pulling the trigger.

Hunted Saturday in King George area and only one was gobbling off the roost. He continued gobbling for at least 2 hrs. Heard a couple of single gobbles til about 9 then worked a couple gobblers for an hour. I couldn't get them to come closer and the woods were too open for me to move toward them. Still fun to hear them respond to your calls though!

Hunted public in Shenandoah county saturday. It was crowded to say the least. heard one gobble on roost but I'm pretty sure he got taken out by the shot i heard promptly after he gobbled around 6:45. Birds were quiet the rest of the day but it was also really foggy and a lot of hunting pressure. Also barometric pressure was around 29.76 according to onx no wind.

I think the fog kept the birds quiet for a while and then they started talking later on at least where I was.

Youth April 3 29 degrees one bird gobbled 30 times. He was on fire. On another property that we didn't have permission.

April 5,6 heard up to 7 different gobblers. Some only gobbled once or twice on the limb, I assume they had hens.

April 10 heard 5, really foggy. Roosted a bird the night before. Set up, bird was closer that gobbled more. Gobbled about 10 times on the limb and he hit the ground. I saw the him fly down. Made one call.... Boom! Gotem'

Good luck everyone.

April 17 and 18th.
Last 2 mornings they have been gobbling on the roost but after they fly down things get quiet and they hen up. Hens are responding to my calls and I had a few silently walk into range but haven't heard a gobble after 8am this weekend.
