Title: Saw some poults and gobblers today
Post by: Tail Feathers on August 01, 2020, 03:36:25 PM
Not in the same spot tho.  Went four wheeling on a beautiful cooler than normal morning and as we pulled in to the lease I saw seven poults and a hen cross in front of us.  The poults were maybe half as tall as mom.  I saw two sets of gobbler tracks that went down the middle of the road for 1/4 mile just past that.  Ir rained last night so they were from this morning.
Rode down about a mile and saw four toms together.  Saw tracks in a couple of other spots too, the turkeys seem to be thriving there, unlike the rest of East Texas.
It was a good morning for seeing animals, deer, roadrunners and squirrels were all active this morning.  32 miles or wheeling and plenty of mud later, we called it at lunch time.  Man what a great morning in the woods! :icon_thumright:

Always great to see those young turkeys and old ones ...
