I have to give mine a "10". Went to Florida the first week of March and killed my first Osceola and Tagged Out in NC by taking a bird the first and second Saturdays of the season. But the best part of the season, for me, was being able to spend time with three of my close Friends and Hunting Buddies. Went to Florida with one of them (Great Trip)!!!! The other two, I called for and shared some Quality Woods Time that will always be Cherished.
God has Truly Blessed Me with Memories that will Last a Lifetime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Took 2 Osceolas which made my year, and had a great time in Florida with GobblerD. However, only put down 1 Eastern after that, and I hunted hard. I'm probably going to make a Kansas run on a 3 day hunt, where I've still got 2 tags. As it stands right now, I'd rate it a 7, but if Kansas goes well, could be as high as a 10.
Was one of my better, killed 2 in Tn, 2 in Mo 2 in Pa and 1 in Ny. Called up one for my dad, 2 for my son and 1 for my father in law, all were longbeards. Daughter has 2 tags and we have two weeks left..
Early in the season I passed on a big jake and his buddy, and another jake at 7 yards. The season started off so great so I got a little cocky. I've been humbled. The past 8-10 hunts I've only heard distant gobbles. I can't work a bird. This season turned sucky quick.
I rate it a 10. I went 2 for 2 on tags this year. Filled one the second day of season. Filled the other 10 days later with a bird that I had been watching for a month before season. It was great. My only complaint was it ended to quick.
Any season I get to be in the woods for 9 days straight gets a 10. As for the hunting this year maybe a 5 birds never wanted to talk. I did still manage 1 mice bird in a 2 bird season not to bad.
One of my best seasons. Lots of birds whacked this year.
My season gets a 10. I killed 2 (should've been 5, but I've been fighting a POA/POI issue all season), got to take my mother and brother and atleast give them a show or two, and I made a few new friends in the process.
Great season! I've been on a lot of birds, but still didn't get one. I had many passes on the Jake's. Theres some time left for me and I'm keepin it positive. Strong 7
I can't! It ain't over yet eh! ;D Going well so far. 4 trips and 15 days hunting with one more planned for 4 days and my only issue is I haven't been able to hunt enough!!!!!
I'd have to rate mine a 9 or 10. My dad and I filled our 4 total tags with longbeards. The pre season had us worried if we were going to get a bird at all since we only saw 4 longbeards on our lease 1 time, and that was it for as many times as we were down there. Only one of the hunts was a semi flash hunt, but all 4 birds were worked for pretty hard. Working for them makes it that much more rewarding when you finally close the deal. My second bird came in about 5 hours after we hit the woods, and close to 4 hours after we first knew he was there. We had a hen doing some great calling for us at 10 yards one morning, and had 5 jakes that we passed on. I heard more hen talk this year than ever before.
4 birds in 8 days is great, I just wish it didn't go by so fast.
very disapointed..one day their gobblin and next they are not around... don't no i thinks its all this f##@$$$@ rain were gettin in PA. somebody help me???????
a frustrating 6. I got a personal best but it was the only bird in 9 days hunting. 40 degree temps, moisture, and mute birds made it difficult to stay motivated. as hard as i tried to help after getting my bird friends and family had to eat 6 tags. NEXT YEAR ITS ON!
I would rate mine as a 7.5 out of 10. Got 2 here at home and one in MT. It would have been a 10 if the birds would have played better, and I would have had more time to hunt.
A perfect 10!
Went 3 for 3
Hunted 3 times on 3 different farms and killed 3 birds - the VA limit.
Last bird was my heaviest ever at 23 1/2 lbs
I would rate mine a 10, I would rate it a 10 if I did even kill one. Just love being out there. Had the chance to tag out but through my mistakes just did not make it happen. Was blessed to lay 2 on the ground and I was very happy with them cause I worked my butt off for those two. The Lord taught me more about patience, perserverance, pride, and listening to the intelligence of better hunters, mentors! Hunt with a couple of friends, learned a lot and laughed a bunch, changing my rating to a 15! :)
I would rate my season as a 10 with 2 Wy, 1 KS, and 1 NE bird. All birds were mature and one was banded and had a transmitter attached which was unique. The only negatives was the inconsistent and wet spring and the high gas prices! :cowboy:
9 15/16
Year of the multibeards!
10 all friends and hunters had a great time with lots of birds...

only seen 3 birds die this year, to much rain
As far as how the birds acted a 3. As far as killing and special hunts a 10. Georgia and South Carolina were tough this year.
Knocked down a longbeard, two jakes, 1 miss at a longbeard, and one longbeard standing at 30 yards that didnt get shot at. Special hunts...one of my jakes with my Dad also killing a jake, first turkeys we have shot together in 19 years. My second Jake with my 5 year old on his first big boy turkey hunt. Putting Covehunter on his SC gobbler and watching him smack it, all in a hunt that last probably less than 20 minutes from walking in the woods. Im a little disappointed in the jakes, but all three were taken in special hunts that will never happen again. I think I was blessed as tough as this season was. I know a ton of guys that have tags left.
Good season here in VA, probably an 8 or 9 on the scale. Killed a few birds and was in on a couple more, not bad at all.
My best season yet! I'm gonna rate it a 8 though leave room for improvement. Took two big tn birds, 11 1/4 beard and 11 1/8 beard my two biggest to date
9, if you know what I mean...

i've never seen so few turkeys die as I saw this year and I've never called so few birds to the gun.
my season goals were to kill at least 10 birds and guide more than that.
i killed the best bird of my life and 4 others but good days in the woods were few and far between.
6...... only because i got to watch my 6 year old smoke his second bird.... 2 for me. I've never had a rougher season. Lots of days in the woods, lots of gobbles early in the season, then NOTHING... not a peep?????? i had a big tag soup - the tag i used on my boys bird...oh well.... deer season will be here soon and then turkey season all over again. :you_rock: :you_rock:
On a scale from 1 to 10...I'd give mine 14 :happy0064: It was my first time hunting turkey, my first time calling (Almost pooped myself when that first hen walked up on me!) and harvested my first Old Gobbler. 20 lbs, 9'+ beard and spurs just under 1 1/2" . Overall I am happy as pigs in dirt with my first season. :z-guntootsmiley:
I don't think I will rate any spring season a 10/10. That will happen when I get to Heaven. But this year was as close to that as you can get. Like Guesswho said it was like a 9 15/16. I thought last year was one of my best years ever but this year was ranked right up there close to the top. I pulled the trigger on 6. Had a hand in another 8. Took a nephew who was soo excited when he killed his turkey he said it was the best day of his life, he's 24 y/o. Added 2 more states to my list and killed my 100th turkey. Hunted with my son most every time I went out in CA and every day in SD and NE. Watched him kill his NE turkey 15 minutes after buying his tag and it was his 39th gobbler. There was alot more I could write about such as all the friends I hunted with and new friends I met. I still love the south and God is good all the time.
TRKYHTR
As has been said, I feel like every season I'm blessed enough to be healthy and financially stable enough to get out and do what I love is a 10. This season truly was exceptional. I had a longer season than I've ever had by starting in Texas in the middle of March and harvesting my first two Rio gobblers and inching closer to my slam. Then I returned to my home state and made up for two early season misses with a pair of late season toms last week, in addition to calling in a bird that my brother was able to harvest. I didn't get to make my annual trip to WV to hunt and fish with a good friend because of my Texas trip, but he plans on being with me next year when I look to finish my slam. All in all a fantastic season, and I enjoyed every day afield.
I spent 15 days out turkey hunting this year for myself and with freinds, and between the 4 of us, managed to take only 3 toms. I myself ended up get 1 with the 5 tags I had, so I'm going to rate my year at a 3. It was tough hunting this year for sure for me.
My most frustrating season in over 25 years.
Lots of rain and high wind all season here in the high mtns of NC, made for some tough hunts......but.....
I got to see some beautiful country, awesome sunrises and a ton of deer. Made some new friends and acquired some more new land to hunt.
I'll give it a strong "7"
9.5 - Filled 2 of my 3 tags (life got in the way on #3) and helped my buddy on 2 of his 3 filled tags. Great season, saw some amazing things. Killed a double beard and a dumb 2 yr old. Can't complain at all.
1
Tag soup tastes like $*%#
Birds everywhere before season - once season started never even SAW a gobbler and only heard one gobble.
10++++++. My best season ever.Took longbeards in Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Kansas, & Virginia. Finished my Grand Slam. Made some great new friends. Heard & seen lots of gobblers. Called in a ton of hens & jakes. Next year should be great. Come on Spring 2012 !! :newmascot:
great :character0029: :bday:
it was a real rough n tough season for me. but yet managed to pull 2 double bearded jakes out of my butt. plenty of messed up weather for the bluegrass state. on both of my birds i got to share good memories with my dad and one of my best budds. last year spent the last day of season with the same bud and he got his first longbeard and i experienced that. always good to spend time with ones you cherish. hunts with my dad are always the best no matter what. i rate mine a 7.
My WV & NH season was a 10+ ;D My VT season though is still up in the air ??? I've had great days up there but I've also had some pretty bleak days up there! If I can get my so called buddies to stay out of my areas & stop stopping Jakes, I might be able to turn things around. So VT for my is 5 right now :-[
10 for me
:anim_65: :z-guntootsmiley: :you_rock: :happy0064: :jackson: :groupwave: :turkey2:
says it all , my season ROCKED and I got it all on video.
Son got his first tom and a great one and I doubled on video with my nephew ( who is like a son to me)
Only downfall was the neighbor at the one property busting the birds out because he thinks he owns all the deer, but thats alright I have 8 doe tags there this year and all 8 will be used one way or another. LOL
I had some days that were 1's and a couple that were 10+'s...I'd say overall it was a solid 8.5 season. :)
overall a 6 I would say
10
I can't rate my seasons 1-10 because they're all 10s. I will say this season has to be one of my top three seasons. Four great WMA longbeards with the shortest spur being 1 1/8 in. ain't bad at all. So let me just rate it great.
i rate this year a 10, killed 4 good birds 2 in ms. 2 in tn. Capped the season off with a double with my cousin in Tn. first one for both of us! :z-guntootsmiley: :newmascot:

I had issues with poa/poi as well. I was telling my cousin my gun was shooting a foot high. He told me to find taller turkeys.
Mine will be a 12 regardless if I'm able to get out again to a late state or not... 13 birds, 9 states... Definitely a 12.
