Title: saturdays hunt
Post by: gob09 on May 16, 2011, 05:35:42 PM
went to one heck of a honey hole saturday morning i had been seeing 5 longbeards on a farm out by some public land all week long. so i asked the owner permisson to hunt the rest of the season and he reluctantly gave me the go ahead went every afternoon the last week of season.
sweating my but off and having an awesome time they were gobbling alot and looked promissing but never could get them in close enough for a good shot.
saturday morning rolls around and i go setup a feeding hen and a jake both blowups heard a few gobbles at daylight and did  mine and ricks invention we call flydown and waited he must've come right to me it was about 5:35 5:40 when i first he strutted and gobbled all the way to my decoys walked up to my jake and deflated him with one lick and strutted around
before i seen him i got up and moved about five yards from my original setup and could not find a hole in the brush to shoot him i finelly got the shot off and he hit the dirt
about the time i got to him rick text me and asked if i was getting wet i said no why he said it's commin a flood over here  about the time i got ready to go here it come rained like heck all the way to the truck but atleast i was'nt empty handed this time

thats a second hand 870 i got off a feller it was suposed to be a good gun
but everytime i took it hunting i would not hear or see anything. so i just started leaving it home i took a pic of it cause it has the team decal on it

someone did that to it i wish they would have left it alone so i could have about 4 inch's whacked off of it

BG I don't know if that's the gun your thinking of or not, I've had that gun since 09, got it from a guy named Mike, it did have wood stocks' I changed them out a couple years ago, still have them if you know someone needing wood for a 870.
