Title: Still Hammering in FL
Post by: Gobble Nole on May 18, 2020, 02:25:44 PM
So this morning I rode up to the farm and checked on the pond/fish feeder.  Just normal stuff no big deal...

Out in the field I hear this bird just going to town, gobbling his head off.  May 18th, our season has been out for almost a month.

Anyway, I have started building my own mouth calls, so I grabbed my latest prototype and headed up the hill with my son in tow.  We made it to the field, knelt down, and called the bird to within 30 yards.

Awesome morning, nice bonus to say the least.  I guess that I am shocked that they are still going at it so hard, we wound up hearing two different birds.

And I am stoked that my mouth call did the trick on a very late season gobbler.

No surprise.  They were just entering the strut zone to strut zone phase when the season ended in the north zone.

Sounds like a blast! Bet the affirmation from a bona fide strutter felt great!

Not surprising. I've seen strutters following hens in central Florida as late as July. Must have been cool to call him in.

Sent from deep in the woods where the critters roam.
