JUST GOT A NEW MOSSBERG 500 .410 IN BOTTOM LAND IT HAS THE FACTORY CHOKE WITCH IS EXTRA FULL. I WANT TO SHOOT TSS BUT WHAT SIZE SHOT #9 ARE #7. NEW TO THIS .410 THING JUST WANTED TO TRY ON OUT ... IT HAS THE SCREW IN CHOKES..
If you can find some #10 try that. It will give you a higher pellet count in the center of your pattern. If not I would go #9. I don't have a 410 but have been thinking about getting one of the tristar's in bottomland. From what I've read about the guys that handload 410 in tss. They mostly use #10. And #9 with 20ga and larger guns. I do handload my own 12ga #9 TSS now.
Apex has 10 shells 9 1/2 size shot.
Here is a video of a harvest with this ammo.
Skip to 11:00 mins if you just want to see how this shell performs. Just remembering watching this the other day.

You need 8s or smaller to have enough pellets. A gun that patterns tighter can use larger pellets. Larger pellets tend to hold the pattern further. 9s will kill further than a .410 is likely to hold a pattern.
I shoot 9.5s or 10s

First year 410 user here, and I'm sold on the 9 1/2's. I wouldn't hesitate to use 9's either based on the patterning session.
I'm using Stevens 301t in 410. Only able to get federal #9's good pattern to 40yds. I took a Tom around 20yds he went straight down. No need to even jump up to go after him. Upon skinning neck out plenty of damage didn't find one pellet.
