It's bitter sweet.
I worked hard for this last one. Public land birds have gone very quiet and reclusive. I found this guy in a field by himself one afternoon. I tried to close the deal then but he wasn't interested. I came back the following week and shot him at 6:50 AM. I had a feeling that he would be roosted in this area, but I had no idea that I would setup on the tree next to the one he was roosted in. He never made a peep, but I could hear him moving around on the limb. I made some soft tree calling and waited to hear him pitch down. Still listening, I see movement to my left, and here he is, already on the ground. He flew down completely silent. Like a ninja! He never gobbled or strutted, but putting my last tag on him was nonetheless oh so satisfying.
