Title: Slow start in Kentucky
Post by: kyturkeyhunter4 on April 25, 2020, 03:51:48 PM
Slow start in Kentucky, birds seemed to be hennaed up pretty bad. Who else is having this problem in the bluegrass state?

They have been really slow. Hunted almost every day this week and have only called in two birds Wednesday morning that were saved by a fence. Gobble decent on the limb then maybe a couple gobbled on the ground and that's it. Did call in two line hens today which is odd to me. Hopefully it picks up.

Only been out once. New puppy, working remotely, and a family on lock down is keeping me a little busy. Did manage to get up with one at about 11ish Wednesday. He put on a good show but a creek bottom clogged up with debris kept him about 15 yards out of range.

Also had a hen almost walk on top of me in another area. She never busted me and I figured there was a nest close so I eased out and I'll leave that area alone.

Been the same here in southern Indiana. Birds gobble good on the limb then shut up. Hunted every day since youth weekend and haven't worked a bird since youth weekend Sunday. I even struck up 2 birds yesterday at 1 pm and they never moved an inch toward me. The biggest issue right now is finding a pull off with no one there. Never seen so many people

Similar to my experience in Pendleton County. However, based on telecheck to date this is shaping up to be a banner year.
