Title: Stevens 301 .410??
Post by: Lilpeanut42 on April 23, 2020, 01:35:01 PM
I was interested in buying a Stevens 301 .410 and I was wondering what kind of experiences you guys have had with the gun or what chokes and ammo you get the best patterns with out of it. TIA.

First year I've used one, and no issues at all.  In fact it has surprised me.   Indian Creek 390 with Foxtrot 383 Strokers- 9 1/2's.   I even killed a hog between 20-25 yards with mine earlier in the season, which really surprised me

Yes plenty of info on this and other forums.  My first year with a 301 .410. Worked out well taking one at 25 yards and a second at 34. Both with Apex 9 1/2 Ninja TSS. I had added a Truglow red dot and Jebs Headhunter choke. I patterned also with Federal TSS #9.  It is acceptable and more readily available.  If things stay true to form you'll have trouble finding add ons and ammo in stock.  It did take me quite a while to get everything hitting point of aim but it's there now. Good luck. :turkey2:

I gave the 410 a try this year love the Stevens. Factory choke and federal tss #9's. 40 yard gun all day.
Light weight easy handling.

Lots of people agree the factory supplied choke and Federal #9s are more than enough.  I bought mine in early February and just ordered an after market choke out of habit.  Really had to jump through hoops getting the Apex 9 1/2s.  They sell out in about a week.  Took two tries to get a red dot that was satisfactory.  If you really dig around you should find some post on how some have removed that pictany rail and replaced with rifle sights.  I'm hoping by next year an actual factory style fit for rifle sights will be available.  Red dot worked but it is just another thing to worry about and go wrong IMO.  This pic from bird on 4/19.  About 34 yard shot.  Good luck.

Never shot it, but seems to be a great gun from what I've heard
