Title: Sx3 cantilever turkey barrel
Post by: strut_stopper on April 20, 2020, 07:31:00 PM
Has anyone ever bought an aftermarket Sx3 barrel? I've searched the web quite a bit and I can't seem to find the cantilever turkey barrels? I know winchester has some online but they say they are vent. rib. Seems odd that you can't buy the same barrel that comes on the gun. Maybe I'd have to call Winchester and order one from them?

Finding the actual SX3 cantiever turkey gun itself is very hard these days. Seems like they are always out of stock no matter where you look. The SX4 is more available so maybe you can see if the barrels are interchangeable.

I called Winchester and that barrel isn't available anymore. And the lady also told me that sx3 and sx4 barrels do not interchange, that could be a legality answer. I'm not sure because I don't know side by side comparisons of the two.

I am not saying the lady is wrong but according to everything I have read the only differences between the SX3 and SX4 are cosmetic. I'd ask some others including the Winchester pros on Shotgunworld forum.

Yes that's the basis of what I've read too. I'll have to join over there and see what everyone has to say.

If you happen to find out the answer can you follow up here and let us know if the barrels are the same? Thanks

I've called twice and talked to them and they all give me a no. I've looked at the high res images on Winchester's website and the only difference I see is that on the barrel tang of the Sx3 there is a dowel pin and a hole. In the same location on the Sx4 those two holes are opened up to a slot. Not sure what the function of either of them are. I kinda gave up on the idea. I absolutely love my Sx3 I wish I could find a barrel for it.
