I've been working on my dead mount for the last 3 days. There are a few different problems you run into when mounting a turkey that hangs upside down. Feathers seem to want to gravitate towards the floor. I still have a few things to do and some drying time but other than that I'm done. What do you think?

that is my favorite pose for a mount, waiting for a big Merriam before have one done that way. Gonna look good when your done.
That looks very nice. It looks like that bird has some hooks. How long are they?
I like it a lot. I like the fact that you did not fan the tail out to far. I think that looks unnatural.
Looks good!!

Thanks everybody. His hooks are 1 1/4". This is the picture of him after the shot hanging from a tree branch.

Sure looks good Joe!! Strong work
Looks great buddy!!
Awesome Limbhanger Mount. That is the best idea for a dead mount I have seen yet. How much time total do you have in it so far? Thanks for sharing, Mike

I haven't counted how many hours I have into it. I worked on it for three days after work this week. I decided I wanted to hang it on a limb, like we do when we get a limbhanger, but didn't know how to fix it to the limb. It took a little while to find the right limb. I found it in my back yard. I didn't want the turkey to hug the wall because you wouldn't see the beard. I wanted it angled a little. There was a little more planning in this turkey than other turkeys I've mounted. Thanks,

Looks really good to me!
Looks good Joe!
How are you mounting that monster bird you killed this year?

Walking on a limb.

That's awesome!!! I saw a Gould's mounted that way once although it was strung up not hung by spurs. That is a great idea. I think it's the best way I've seen to display the color in a Merriam's or Goule'w
It looks great Joe, you are a natural.
