Title: M1 question
Post by: gobblenomore on April 12, 2020, 10:36:29 AM
Looking for some input on a M1. I got this for my son years ago and he shot it a couple years duck hunting and turkey hunting. A few years back I decided to resurrect it for turkey hunting.I was told by a local gunsmith that it would be difficult to add any type of mount for scope or red dot because it was too thin on top. So i would like to know if any of you have a M1 that is set up for turkeys and who you  had do the work. Thanks

Could you use a saddle mount? Do they make one for an M1 ?

I have a m1 drilled and tapped with sumtoy mount and vortex venom. Had no problems. Had a local gunsmith do it.

I was under the impression the gunsmith I talked to wasn't interested in doing it. Mind asking what choke and shell you are using

I have a Burris FF3 mounted on a 336 base on my 12g M1.  It can be done.
