Title: Weatherby SA-459
Post by: Team Stuckem on March 14, 2020, 12:52:10 AM
I recently won a Weatherby Sa-459 at a banquet. It's the obsession/pistol grip version. Everything I've seen says it is Invector/Win choke threaded. Well, I just happen to have a Jebs .555 Invector/win choke that I was shooting in my Winchester 1300. The issue I am having is, I tried to screw the Jebs in tonight and it will not thread. I can take the factory choke out of the Weatherby and it threads just fine into the Winchester. Anyone have any issue why I'm having the issue that I am?

Mine is mobil choke threads. Post a pic of the tube that works in it.

It won't let me post a pic from my phone. I have a affinity 3 and the Weatherby is definitely not Mobil threads. I fooled with it some more today. It's almost like the Jebs is too big. It wants to stop before getting to the threaded part of the barrel.

Send the jebs back for a replacement unless you like the performance in the 1300.

The newer SA459 models are definitely the invector/winchoke/Mossberg style. The older models with the raised ghost ring sights and mothwing camo stock and forearm used the Beretta/Benelli threads.

Luckily, my buddy had a Indian Creek with Win Choke threads lying around. I am going to hold onto the Jebs or may let my buddy use it in his Stevens 401 since I have his Indian creek. This is not going to be my primary as I have a Franchi and a Tristar 410 that are my primary guns. I will be setting this gun up as a backup or for a youth to use. I going to be taking a friend of mine's 9 yr old on a youth hunt in the coming weeks and this gun will be perfect for him.

Having an issue with a Jebs I bought recently also. It will thread in, but I must force it down into the it's almost like the portion of the choke above the threads is to thick. Anyway gonna give them a call tomorrow. The primos tightwad fits fine, Same style choke. So maybe was a issue with that batch. Who knows?

Same deal here with not 1 but 2 Jeb's in 20 ga Win/Moss thread pattern....they fit in the gun but will not catch the threads to screw in. I spoke to them and they wanted me to send the gun in.....top notch customer service but I dont feel comfortable sending my gun anywhere. Sad to say but I'm going to see if they will take them back.  :help:

If I'm not mistaken depending on when the Guns were manufactured depends on which choke was used win choke or mobile
