I've done a bunch of searches on this site and it seems the Irish setters vaprtrek get great reviews. The foot on them looks like a pair of thin running shoes and a Irish Setter website says the "uppers" have strike protection but don't make any mention of foot protection. My question is does anyone know if the foot is also protected or just from the ankle up?

I'm not sure about the snake protection, but mine leaked like crazy right out of the box. I finally got enough Sno Seal melted in with a hair drier to stop it for a couple of trips. Finally just used them for evening hunts in the hills. Then they started splitting on the sides where the toe section bends so I retired them.
They are very comfortable and light, but I would try some Danners. That's just my honest opinion.
I've had a pair for four years and I LOVE them. Super comfortable and light. But, as stated before, they leak pretty quickly. As much as I liked them, I don't think I'll buy another pair of them.
To answer your question though, the foot below the ankle is the same exact material and construction of the uppers. I've never read it, but I'm sure the foot provides the same protection as the uppers.

I haven't worn the snake boots, but I've owned the 6 or 8 inch lace up Vaprtrek and they were trash. Leaked and fell apart and the tread didn't last either. Didn't even get a year out of em. Not worth the $160 I paid.

2+ years with mine and they still do not leak. I have nothing but positives to say about them.
The foot material is the same as the upper so I can't see why it wouldn't be snake protective as well.
I recently retired mine due to them leaking and letting water in like crazy. But other than that they are super light and comfortable!
Tried out a pair on a quick hog hunt romp/stomp this weekend. They broke in quickly and very light and comfortable.
Can say they felt better than the Alpha-Burlees I've been wearing for years!
Ive had a pair for a year, they are extremely light and comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised how light they are for the size. Ive only hunted 1 spring with them but they didnt leak, granted to havent really walked thru any deep water. Even though i have boots on i still try and avoid deep water if all possible. I wore them for squirrel season and deer season here in LA along with dove hunting in south TX. Very breathable. They may leak this year because I deer hunted with them in west TX and I may or may not have grazed some cactus with them :-[ we will see. But I will continue to wear them for the comfort and peace at mind that I can walk copperhead infested strip cuts with the cover of night. Can't say anything about the lowers being any different than the uppers. Its all the same material.

Bought a pair last year and, although we don't need them here, I wore them the entire season due to the comfort factor.
Hunted Tx. with them early season and here in N.J. for 4 weeks.
I LOVE them for comfort but they did leak after a couple of weeks.
I did really put them to the test by wading through every puddle I came across.
I returned the leaky ones and there was no problem replacing them.
I think this year, I'll take it easy on the wading...

Fixing to start my 2nd season in mine and love them so far! Got them to replace my rocky's because the would soak my feet walking through wet grass... all this talk about them leaking has got me scared though!!!
Put 10+ miles on Saturday and still very pleased with the comfort.
No issues going through muck, water, grass, palmettos and no issues with feet or legs sweating in 80+ degrees and lots of sunshine.
No negatives yet, but won't walk around the garage without them laced up, they catch and knock everything over.
I love mine and if they had stayed waterproof would of been the perfect boot. Had mine for 3 years now but as said only wear them in certain circumstances when water isn't an issue. Most comfortable boots I've ever worn and I wear them as much as I can. Can't speak reliability of snake proofness, though I almost got to test them out on a cottonmouth opening morning last Sat hunting a dry creek bottom. Seems that your covered from the tip of the toe all the way up to the top of the boot from the looks and feels of them.
