Hi guys,
To help promote getting youngsters involved in turkey hunting I'm having a Youth turkey contest.
This contest isn't about getting the largest turkey, a Jake or Longbeard will do.
The contest will be for age sixteen or younger.
You can signup your youngster by sending me an email or pm with their name and age.
If they are successful at harvesting a turkey send me a picture of the kid with his or her turkey.
I will put this picture up on my website.
At the end of the season we will put the names of all successful young hunters in a hat for a drawing.
The one drawn will receive one of my turkey calls.

Thanks. I'm trying to get my 9yr old daughter to go with me. She watched the poults calling at the NWTF contest and she seemed pretty interested in that. Maybe the prize of winning a call would persuade her to go give it a try.

Why not signup your daughter and maybe that will help convince her to give turkey hunting a try.

Well we have a few signups but I thought there would lot more interest.
Don't think this is only for your son or daughter it could be for a nephew or niece or some other family member or even a neighbors
kid who would like to go hunting. Tell your friends about the contest it's not limited to the forum.
One of the slogans of hunters is "take a kid hunting"
I have been surprised at the meager response particularly since there is a free call as a prize.

I'll be sending you a friend of mine's son, he just turned 16, his dad doesn't hunt so I've been taking him. Got his first turkey last year!!!

Thanks for the opportunity. MS youth season starts 7 Mar, my Son is excited. Time will tell if he will have the passion and obsession that I have for it.
