For those who was on his list to get a call when he stopped taking orders. Did you ever receive your calls? I got on his list a short time before he stopped taking orders. When I seen that he was no longer taking orders I contacted him and ask if I would still be getting a call and he told me yes but it would be at least two years maybe more. He said when he got to me he would contact me to get my info and which call that I wanted. I'm thinking it's been four years now and nothing. I've tried contacting him through text message some time ago and recently on her with no response. Just curious if others that where on the waiting list receive calls.
I got on his list towards the very end. I haven't heard anything, but keeping my fingers crossed.
Yep. Me too. Can't get a call , message or anything back from him.
I've been on a list I thought a long time ago as well.
Can't understand why anyone would be willing to wait that amount of years for a Pot Call that takes most woodworkers 1 hour to cut and turn a Pot!! I hope when you get your calls that they spit Feathers and Spurs. I can understand a box call taking longer to get but never on a Pot.
It has been 4 yrs for me as well...I did not figure it would be that long..I am not sure if we will ever get them. Not sure why..I just think he doesn't care..if that's so he should not of taken the order

I had the same experience. When I asked him for better communication, he dropped me from his list.

The reason why is really simple. Some of us want calls for the collectability and value. He makes a great pot. We get in no big rush understanding how long it could take. Most of us have enough calls that we could hand out to the whole neighbor to go turkey hunting. I agree with the comment that if he did not want to continue building pots , he should not have taken the order. Guys in my honest opinion I dont believe we will get the calls.
At this point I have my doubts. As far as waiting goes, if he calls me five years from now I'll gladly take the call. I have plenty of calls to hunt with but some of us like to collect calls.

Spot on Jody.
Ok what makes his call so special to be a collection piece because he won calling contest. By the sounds of the recent post not getting what they wanted leaves me wondering why one would want to collect it ?
Sometimes we put people on a pedestal with high regard and they can't live up to being on that pedestal, think the guy should have enough respect to tell people that he's not going to make your call at that point the collectibility of that persons calls goes out the door.
I agree with some of your post however collectability is in the eye of the beholder. You can list one of his glass pot calls for 400 bucks and it will be sold withen a few hours so there are alot of people who like and want his call. If you only hunt with calls and do not have but a few you will think thats crazy for someone to pay that for a pot call. Same way with lets say baseball cards. No way , no how would I pay hundreds much less thousands on a cardboard card however there are some who will drop the coin in a heartbeat. Thats their thing. Also a corder pot , since clint is not making anymore , becomes a commodity. If you have one and there is a certain call you have been trying to get your hands on , the odds of making a trade for it goes up. Some calls I get so I can turn around and trade them for other calls I would not have been able to get otherwise. If you dont collect calls , you will not get it.
I do get it , I agree what your saying also but there is a fine line also to be considered.

Good post and analogy with the baseball card. That analogy can be extrapolated to other things as well. Collectability is indeed in the eye of the beholder. If a call is outstanding and a commodity certain collectors will pay top dollar and could care less about communication and customer service. As individuals we may "draw that line" in different places. That's fine an an option we all have. Idon't begrudge anyone going after a call aggressively that may round out an outstanding collection.
I didn't mean to start anything and everyone has there own opinion. He's a back to back DD Adams winner who happens to be from my home state and I would like to have one of his calls. I was just curious to know if he was still working down the list. I believe he was just overwhelmed with orders and stopped taking them. I also know that sometimes life just gets in the way.

its not my business to get on here and tell about his personal life but Clint has had a lot going on over the past year.. with that being said Clint is as good of a person as anyone I've ever met and if he said you will get one I truly believe you will.. if you haven't ran one of his calls, their on a level of their own.

I was on his list since 2015. I gave up he hasn't responded to me in years. I've sent multiple emails and messages nothing. Him and plays are to busy selling calls out of hotel rooms at Unicoi and Nashville.
I got on Mr Corders list 3/21/2015 and I got my call from him last June of 2019. As far as Paul Platz Ive been on his list since 2016 and the last time I spoke to him on facebook he wasnt working on his list much anymore only making about 30 calls a year other than what he takes to the shows.

Clint will be getting back into it he just had stuff going on. One of the nicest dudes you'll ever meet. If he could provide a call for everyone who wanted one he would. He has a life and a job and other things to do. I know Clint and have never asked him for a call although I would love to have one from him and I would hunt with it. Not resale it for triple the price. Pics of dead gobblers are priceless to callmakers.

Thanks for that update. I have 3 on his list and really hope to get them one day.
Winning an award doesn't make a call great. I have calls from Platz, Corder, Trice, Strawser, etc..
Lots of politics involved in these contests and like mentioned above once SOME win their price goes up.
I mean Lon Trice sold calls for $50 for several yrs after he won the DD Adams award and nobody waited yrs to get one. Like I said I have some of the most sought after pot calls BUT there is a reason I carry Lon's calls to the woods and that reason isn't because he won this award or that award or even the price of the call, the reason is the pics of the dead gobblers that he enjoys me sending him every spring. They are the REAL judges.....

Well said brother. Hard not to want to support a guy like Lon once you get to know him as well. Never a dull moment with him around.
Lons a great guy and builds a great pot. As for as awards , paul platz had not won any when people was buying his calls. I know and like paul a lot and he makes a awesome pot. I will say I have some from guys you never hear about that sound better than some of my platz pots. I also have a bunch that sounds better than my Corder. I love calls and like hard to get ones. I have enough calls that I could hunt 5 different ones everyday of our 45 day season. I am a addict.

Seriously??? I have calls from both, not even close to the best I have.
Dustin Jones makes a great call for $50...
I have almost posted on this a couple of times, but have thought better of it each time - as I try to mostly stay off of the forums. However, I feel its time to address the topic, and hopefully answer some questions. I do still have what is left of my list. It is about 200 calls and I haven't added to it since 2016. I last worked on it in July of 2019 when I built 10 calls. Those were the only calls I was able to build since last February until recently.
I have a job that is very demanding of my time. Since I began a "list" I have changed roles at work multiple times....each time with increased responsibility. I have two teenage daughters, one heavily involved in sports. I went through a divorce this past year. Life is really busy for me. I would LOVE to have more shop time....but its few and far between right now. I know the same is true for Paul, as he has a newborn and a toddler. Paul is like a brother to me, and anyone that knows him knows he is one of the nicest guys in the turkey world. Like me, he just has a lot going on.
I apologize that I seem to have offended so many people. Keeping constant communication on the status of a turkey call with 400 people is something I found out long ago wasn't feasible for me. It wasn't then, and it certainly isn't now. If this were a business for me, if it were my livelihood, I most certainly would. But, this is not and will never be a business for me - it's a hobby. It's something I love and enjoy doing as I get time, and I simply can't respond to every message I receive at this point in my life. I'm barely making all my "life" commitments right now. Anybody that truly knows me, I feel will tell you I am actually a pretty decent guy. If you've messaged me and I haven't responded, it's not personal. I'm sure many of my close friends here will tell you I don't alway remember to respond to them either.
It's truly amazing to me the character slander that some of the people on these forums are willing to sling around without even knowing you. It also baffles me how some of these people will talk to you and treat you over a turkey call. It'd be different if I took someone's money and didn't deliver, but I haven't, nor will I ever do that.
Do I take a few calls to Unicoi and Nashville every year? Yes, I do. It allows me to go spend time with friends that I dearly love, pay for those trips, and also allows me to buy or trade a few turkey calls from other guys. I think a lot of callmakers do that. Again, I am sorry if that offends some.
I appreciate those of you that have taken up for me (and Paul) here.

Better is in the mind of the individual but there are call makers just as good like Steve Morganstern, Eddie Wynne, Mark Cornelius, Paul Hicks Jr, Lon Trice that have calls readily available & sound just as good to me as my Platz or Corders.

Phew...inwas beginning to think you didnt like me when you dont respond. Lol
You hit the nail on the head here. Everyone here are addicts of the Turkey and everything ot consists of. We all want the best of what is available..whether its shell, guns and calls. You and Paul have built a reputation that all want to look into to see why..hence the approaches about your calls. I see both sides of the spectrum, but will go with the personal side. You have to have time for you. If you don't..no one else will either. I appreciate getting to know both you and paul and being able to see the other side of the spectrum.

Thanks. I will add a couple. Clay Townsend , Paul Durham and Larry as already mentioned. There is NO holy grail. I love Platz and Corder calls also. There are others out there also. Mark Cunningham AKA Footballer and Chad Hutchinson AKA Stumpy. Not saying one is better than the other and in my opinion it depends on surfaces. I think certain callmakers shine on certain surfaces.
There are a lot of good things about this forum and unfortunately some bad.
I think this thread is a prime example of bad, bashing people you don't have the right to judge.
If Clint and Paul don't want to have a list its there choice and no one should criticize them for it and those on the list should patiently wait that is what a call list is meant to be just that a wait list.
If they want to sell calls to a select group in there hotel rooms at call shows that is also there right.
I have bought calls from both Clint and Paul via text and email but its been a long time and when I heard Clint was no longer accepting orders I would have liked to contact him but didn't out of respect and the same with Paul.
Well said va longbeard...
Thanks for responding Clint Corder. I know life can get in the way and I only started the post out of curiosity to see if anyone knew if you were still working on the list. I never asked for anyone's opinions about you, your calls, or who makes better calls. I think I'm competent enough to know whose call I want. If you ever get back to the list and get to me I would love to have one. Either way I wish you luck in life and God Bless.
Thanks for responding Clint. I am glad that you still turn pots when you feel like it and have time. I am just happy to know you still have that list and I know that one day I will get those calls. I talk to Paul alot and he is a great guy too. Take care and I wish you well.
Does anyone have any contact info for Clay Townsend? I'm not on facebook. Thanks
Timely post Mr. Corder . Well written and done. I appreciate and respect you insight.
