Title: Browning silver, Winchester SX3 with a red dot or scope
Post by: nyhunter on May 08, 2011, 01:31:00 PM
any one have either of these guns with a red dot or scope? I'm wondering if anyone has had any problems with the aluminum alloy receiver having a scope mounted on it. seem like there could be problems keeping the screws tight.

We deal with this all the time on target guns.  Red tread locker and put JB Weld under the base.  We pump 50 to 100 round a weekend out of the target gun with scopes that are a lot bigger/heavier then what the hunter will have.

My gunsmith mounted a FFII on my Browning Gold two years ago and he used clear fingernail polish on the base screws and I haven't had any problems. As William stated, you might want to use a more agressive adhesive.
