I haven't posted here for a while, life seems to get in the way sometimes, but have been enjoying making some Turpin Style Hen Boxes in my "spare" time. Here is a hen box call I made for my own use this spring, it is Burmese Teak and Premium Grade Snakewood.
Thanks for looking, Dave

SCC, I have never had an issue with you nor has your work had any influence on mine. I assure you the "acorn" turning which I use on my lanyards for deer grunts, predator calls has been in use for years by me and other call makers and is not a trademark design.
Look GREAT, Dave. I'm glad to see you on hear and back to making calls. I hope all is getting better for you.
Rick
Beautiful call!!
As usual...awesome work Dave. Love that hen box!

What makes a hen box a hen box? Sound? Box style?

It is the box style that denotes it a Hen Box. This is a style originated by Tom Turpin and still being made by the Turpin Family. Here is a link http://www.turpincustomgamecalls.com/calls.htm
