Title: Beretta 390 PG .570 Hevi 13 7's vs Fed HW 7's
Post by: Longshanks on May 06, 2011, 04:23:37 PM
Beretta 390  PG .570

Hevi 13 7's  138 in a 10in circle @ 35yds

Fed HW 7's  119 in a 10in circle @ 35yds

Long way from the 170's @ 40yds i read about...

* Beats the lead numbers out of my 12 gauge 870 .665 Hastings with Win.  1  7/8  5's and 6's (g-box) @ 35yds
* Grey box numbers slightly better than Black box.

My Beretta 391 Urika patterns Hevi 13 7's as follows:

  Undertaker .582    140 in a 10" circle @ 40 yards

  Hevi Shot   .573     155 in a 10" circle @ 40 yards

I don't think you'll have any trouble killing a gobbler at 40 -45 yards. Sometimes too much is made of paper patterns and not what is an effective killing pattern.

That's about all I can squeeze out of my rigs with a couple different chokes.

Thanks for the input guys.  I was starting to wonder with the things i have read about 170's @ 40yds.  Guess i am about average with these numbers.  Plenty good for harvesting turkeys inside 40yds.  :fud:

Think im gonna try the Hevi Shot .573 in my beretta with the Hevi 7's.  Where did you find that choke?

Thanks, I am going to order one.  Hopeful to pick up my numbers a bit.  Yours is 155 @ 40 and mine was 140 @ 35. Havnt bought a choke for that gun since i bought it. Is yours the Beretta 390?

  You may want to talk with a gunsmith about porting the barrel before you spend more on different chokes.  I have my 1100 20ga ported and shoot a $10 RSF choke.  Fed HW FC 6's=120's, 7's=150's, H13 7's=180's and Nitro 7's = low 200's.  I purchased several more expensive chokes that haven't helped at all.
