Title: Finally did a 20ga Single Shot!
Post by: old frank on November 01, 2019, 02:02:44 PM
I know it is deer season and I am after them, no fall turkey hunting in Georgia. In January I will switch to pig hunting until finally march 15 brings turkey season, but I can still be dreaming and working on turkey stuff.

Simple Stevens 301 Compact. I added a Carlsons choke made for the Longbeard shells, sling studs and swivels,Fiber optic front sight,Limbsaver slip on pad and a rattle can paint job. I used mesh to create a pattern but it does not show up well in the picture.

Recoil was milder than expected with Longbeard #6 and a dense pattern at 30 yards. I probably will not shoot much more than that as my old eyes don't pick up the bead very well, FO helps but still limited.
I am not putting anything else on this one and going to keep it light and compact.

Now to wait for spring and shoot it a lot more as season gets closer!

Haven't hunted with it yet but it is light to carry.

I removed the hokey safety today!
