Title: This is hard enough without coyotes interrupting
Post by: scoot12 on May 05, 2011, 08:24:59 PM
Hey guys,  Yesterday late morning got out to woods about ten o'clock looking for a lonely tom.  Walked ridge and was almost to my spot where I was going to set up and he hammered off below me about 125 yards.  I set up and made three soft yelps and he double gobbled.  I was pumped,  next thing I knew he was walking up trail right to me where I thought he would.  He would walk ten yards and gobble, pause walk another ten and gobble.  He got to within 40 yards and I figured when he walked by this big tree I would take him.  I was actually smiling because it was working out perfectly.  Next thing I know a coyote comes running in from my right and bird took off flying.  Needless to say I said a few choice words I can't repeat.  I had my 20 gauge so it was a little out of range.  Still after them hard though.  Scoot

Was that yote in range.  I'd of fed him a happy meal of Win 6's.

Hate that for ya. I've piled up three this season from the same farm. I figure if the yote is gonna ruin my day, the least i can do is return th favor.

Stay after em,
Clint

I had a similar thing happen to me one year. As soon as the birds hit the ground a coyote came running in to my decoy. It wasn't his lucky day.   :fud:
Good Luck with the birds, and the coyotes.

I hope the coyote gets a little closer to you the next time he spoils your hunt.
