Went out this morning and walked a power line, heard this guy gobble, setup and he came to within 20 yards, strutting and gobling the whole way. I thought it was a tom but after I got up to him I noticed short spurs and a short beard. He has a full fan and acted like he was a gobbler??
Here's a picture of him with my son. I got home before they were even awake.

Spellnj3..Very nice. You've got a couple of ''Jakes'' in that picture..Well done..Mike
Are the middle feathers just short like the side feathers usually are? Fan looks a little short unless its just the photo.
Unless something looks really suspicious.......I'd shoot a full fan bird without thinking twice, so I'd be in the same boat.
Congrats on the bird!

Rockin the spongebob pj's!!
The last 2 feathers on each side of the fan look a little shorter to me. It could be the angle. Either way, Congratulations on a good bird!
My son shot one just like it earlier this year. This is the second time I have seen a jake with a full fan.
Congrats on the jake. I shot one earlier that fooled me the same way. He gobbled and strutted all the way to the gun. He had a very full fan with only a couple of short tail feathers which I couldn't distinguish in the thickness of the foliage. He will eat very well.
Rick
i would have shot him too! congrats on a fine bird!
That's why I don't like jake restrictions. Turkey hunting is more about the hunt than the stats
It was a great hunt, he put on a dandy of a show for me...I'm really happy to have taken him. I've never seen a jake with a full fan before, but either way I'm one happy fella today!!
The far outside feathers are shorter. It is almost a full fan jake.
Well done Steve..you know there are plenty more big boys back there..
Congrats on a great bird!!
